My Shifts
The My Shifts page is where employees check their schedule and, when a manager has opened a planning period, tell the restaurant which days/times they can work. If you have an approved shift starting within about 15 minutes or already underway, a clock-in card also appears at the top of this page - it works exactly like the one on Attendance & Clocking In, including the QR scanner on branches that use it.
Viewing your upcoming shifts
Section titled “Viewing your upcoming shifts”- Open My Shifts. At the top you’ll see this week as a row of day pills (or switch to Show month for a full calendar).
- Days with a shift scheduled show a small dot; tap Today to jump back to the current date at any time.
- Selecting a day shows your shift(s) for that day as chips above a 24-hour timeline, with each shift’s time range and role/station.
- Tap a shift chip or its block on the timeline to open a detail popup with its exact time and role.
- If the branch is closed that day (per its weekly hours or a holiday), a banner and diagonal shading on the timeline make that clear. Holidays with special hours also show a banner with the adjusted open/close time.
Your expected arrival time (if your manager has set one for you) is also shown near the top of the page on larger screens, along with a link to your full Attendance history.
If two of your shifts overlap in time (for example a split role assignment), the timeline doesn’t stack them on top of each other - it places them side by side as separate columns so both stay visible and tappable. The timeline also opens pre-scrolled to about an hour before your earliest shift that day (or 8 AM if you have nothing scheduled), so you don’t have to scroll up from midnight every time.
Closed days and holidays
Section titled “Closed days and holidays”The closed or holiday state only shows up in the single-day view below the calendar, not on the week pills or month-grid cells themselves - a day with a shift dot looks the same whether the branch is open or closed that day until you actually select it. Once selected:
- A fully closed day shades the entire 24-hour timeline with diagonal stripes and shows a plain closed banner.
- A holiday marked Closed does the same, with the holiday’s name in the banner instead of the generic message.
- A holiday marked Custom hours shows the banner with the adjusted open/close time, and overrides the timeline’s shaded hours to match - this applies even on a day the branch is normally closed, so a special holiday opening still shows correctly.
- A holiday marked Half day is the one exception: since the app doesn’t store separate reduced hours for it, the banner only shows the holiday’s name - the timeline underneath still reflects your branch’s normal open/close hours, not any actual shortened ones. If your manager has told you the restaurant is closing early for a half day, that detail lives outside the app (an announcement, for example), not in the timeline shading.
If a restaurant sets up both a branch-specific holiday and an all-branches holiday on the same date, only one banner is shown for that day - there’s no separate indicator that a second one also applies.
Submitting availability for an open planning period
Section titled “Submitting availability for an open planning period”When a manager opens a planning period for upcoming scheduling, days within that period show a small circular indicator on the calendar:
- + - nothing submitted yet for that day.
- ✓ (grey) - you’ve answered but haven’t confirmed it yet.
- ✓ (green) - your answer for that day is confirmed.
To submit your availability for a day:
- Tap the + (or ✓) indicator on that date.
- Choose Available or No availability for that day.
- If you chose Available and your contract lets you set your own hours, drag the time range slider to the hours you can work, then tap Save.
- If your hours are fixed by your contract (see below), you’ll just see your standard hours displayed - there’s nothing to adjust, just confirm.
- Tap Save availability. The indicator turns into a confirmed green checkmark.
Only days inside a currently open planning period can be edited this way; days outside any open period, or once a period has closed, can no longer be changed from this screen. If you tap Save more than once in quick succession (for example on a slow connection), the second tap is held back until the first save finishes, rather than firing a duplicate request.
A grey (pending) tick versus a green (confirmed) one only applies if your contract category lets you change days or times at all: if both are locked by your contract, there’s nothing left to confirm, so the indicator shows green the moment your default schedule exists for that day - you don’t need to open the modal at all. If either is editable, the tick stays grey until you actually open the day and tap Save availability yourself, even if the value shown was already pre-filled and you didn’t change anything.
Choosing No availability and saving is recorded on the server so your manager can tell “you said you can’t work” apart from “you never answered” - but on your own calendar, that day’s indicator still shows a plain +, the same as an unanswered day. There’s currently no visual difference on your own screen between a day you’ve explicitly declined and one you haven’t gotten to yet.
Employees with fixed hours vs. flexible hours
Section titled “Employees with fixed hours vs. flexible hours”Not every employee has the same freedom to set their own availability - it depends on the contract category your manager has assigned you to:
- Fully flexible (the default when no category restricts you): you can mark any day as available or unavailable, and freely choose your own start/end time for each day.
- Fixed days, flexible times: you can’t opt in/out of specific days, but where you are marked as working you can still adjust your hours.
- Fixed days and fixed times: both which days you work and your hours on those days are locked to your default schedule - a standard weekly pattern your manager has set up for you. In this case the availability step is really just a confirmation: your default schedule is used automatically, and if your contract locks everything, it’s treated as already confirmed without you needing to do anything.
When your days are locked, the Available/No availability choices themselves are disabled in the modal - there’s nothing to toggle, only your existing schedule to view. When your times are locked but days aren’t, the app shows your default schedule for that weekday instead of a slider. A default schedule can include more than one time block per day - for example, a split shift of 09:00-13:00 and 17:00-21:00 - and if so, all of that day’s blocks are shown together as your fixed hours.
If any part of your availability is locked, the modal shows a short note explaining that your days or times are fixed by your contract - ask your manager if you think it needs to change. Contract categories themselves (including the Allow edit days and Allow edit times toggles) are managed from the Restaurant page - see Contract categories.
